Bob Vogt 1st Vice President |
PBA
Local #1 1st Vice President, Bob Vogt was born in Passaic NJ and raised
in Clifton adjacent to the South Paterson section of the City, where he
spent most of his days. He attended St. George's grammar school in
Paterson and Don Bosco Tech and graduated with High Honors for Academics
and Varsity Letters in 1982. He then attended William Paterson College
prior to his appointment to the Paterson Police on April 1, 1986.
During his youth Bob played for many Paterson and Clifton CYO and
recreational basketball and baseball teams. In high school Bob was also
a NJ Sate Champion sprinter in the 100 and 200 meters, matching school &
event records while competing throughout NJ.
Bob is married to Kim (Robinson) the daughter and niece of retired
Paterson Police Detectives and herself a former Communications
Dispatcher for Paterson. They have 4 children, Dana, Gina, Alexis and
Robert Joseph. He is also a Charter Member and past Secretary of the
Blue Knights, NJ 17 Paterson, a Charitable International Law Enforcement
Motorcycle Club.
Bob has participated and directed numerous charitable events with the
club to raise thousands of dollars for local sick children and
charities. He still finds time to help his club and ride his motorcycle.
He is also an avid saltwater boater and enjoys riding his jet skis with
his family and friends. Bob also coaches Little League girl's softball
and basketball teams with his children and has been award All Star teams
in the past.
Bob
attended what was known as a "Crash Course" in April 1986, a 2 week
basic Police Training Course and was assigned to the Park & Walk Safe
Neighborhoods program. Bob then attended a full academy at the Paterson
Police Department, upon graduation he was assigned to the old "B Shift"
a steady midnight shift in a Radio Patrol car and was sworn into the
Paterson PBA Local #1. He has attended numerous training's with FBI, DEA,
ATF and NJ State Police along with other outside agencies. Bob is also
one a few department members who are active Hostage & Crisis Negotiators
for Paterson.
He was then transferred to "C Shift" patrol and was assigned to Unit 114
and then to Unit 113 in the radio cars. During this time Bob received
numerous awards, including the Knights of Columbus Policeman of the
Year. As a result of his dedication and hard work, Bob was promoted as
Major Crimes Detective April of 1990 under Chief Richard Munsey and D/
Capt. James Buckley.
In the Detective Bureau, Bob was trained by seasoned Detectives of C-
Squad and soon himself excelled in investigations and crime scene
investigation. In August 2000 he was assigned to the PAL and DARE
programs where he taught thousands of Paterson elementary school
children about the dangers of the illegal use of drugs and gangs. Bob
was then assigned to the Cell Block and also excelled in his performance
there as effective Senior Patrol Officer. he was then transferred to
Major Crimes Detective Bureau in October 2003, where he is currently
assigned.
He is a well known and highly respected Detective within the Law
Enforcement community, and known as an extremely experienced dedicated
Detective with high professional standards.
As
the 1st Vice President Bob is a member of the Contract Negations
Committee, Local #1 Legal Protection program, PBA Ball Committees,
Annual Presidents Beefsteak Committee. His position is to assist the
President in all aspects of the day to day operation of the PBA and
represent members when needed. Bob also takes care of the PBA life
insurance claims for active and retired members who have passed away and
assist their families in all aspects.
